Because nothing brings Americans together like hating on gay people!I had some creep say he was looking out for me (with a gun) for talking about this yesterday.
Just good homespun folks, is all.
Look at them lining up like a Parade of Douches.
You are making me sad, America.
Just putting my two cents in. There is nothing saying they hate gays. What they’re doing is standing up for a man’s right to say his opinion freely. It’s his restaurant- He’s entitled to say whatever he goddamn wants. If the CEO of McDonald’s came out and proclaimed that they were atheist and thought God didn’t exist, and then wanted to start a restaurant in the bible belt- And say those states refused to let them because they’re offended due to their religion- There would be a fucking outcry about how wrong it was. If people want fair treatment then fucking treat others the way you want.
I just have a lot to say about this issue.
And now that we’ve heard from the “My God gives me permission to be a bigot!” and “It can’t be bigotry because it’s free speech!” representative, let us move on….
Because supporting an organization that uses it’s profits (the money you gave them … the money *YOU* gave them) to support organizations that among other things support killing homosexuals overseas and denying rights to homosexuals at home totally doesn’t make you a hateful bigot.
Okay.
This is the only thing about this current event you will hear from me. Every single person that is sitting here shouting about “how could those people support chick fil a” needs to stop. Stop talking about it. stop writing about it and stop paying attention to it. Because that’s the only reason this kind of hate parade happened. Yeah, it sucks that chic fil a is restaurant o’ biggotry. I get that.
But every single one of you probs thought “Look at those idiots boycotting oreas, just because they support gay rights”. Did we have a pro gay oreo field day? no. But the point still stands. We are on seperate sides of an issue, and it is unfortunate. however free speech is free speech. And you can’t just say “You’re wrong, so you don’t get to have it” because that is the worst slope you could ever slide down.
No one is forcing you to go there, and all the attention is just giving them free publicity, which nutcases like santorum are spreading around. It’s one man who owns one company’s opinion and almost every other company is doing something equally as shady, evil and/or self serving.
Don’t be a hypocrite. Don’t pay attention to something just because other people are. And for god’s sake, stop talking about fucking chick fil’ a.
Because not talking about things make them go away?
This isn’t just about free speech, Chick-fil-A is actively giving money to groups that support killing gays.
I think if Oreo stated doting money to groups that actively supported killing … well, anyone, people would be a lot more up in arms.
You think so? why aren’t people more alarmed at the blood diamonds that apple has been mining?what about the terrible conditions of their work force? You think because people are dying, in american companies overseas mind you, people are going to stop buying products? These are conditions that apple as a company actively has a hand in, creating death based soley on profit.
You want to tell me you or anyone you know is going to switch over from apple because of this? I promise you won’t. I also promise whoever you switch to is doing something equally terrible.
What about the banking scandal that we are still hearing about? Who here took their money out of the bank after hearing what they did? they killed thousands of people just by removing their ability to own a home. Why aren’t you protesting that right now?
No one talks about shit, so no one remembers it. That’s just the way it goes.
Oh, but people are talking about it, and you do hear about it, and I do protest these things.
I have never paid my own money for an apple product.
Never.
I took all my money out of the bank and put it in a credit union almost three years ago, and have my car loan through a small lender.
So, yes. I do protest these things and know many others who do, the difference is, there isn’t a media firestorm over it because in those cases the people being protested against aren’t framing it as an issue of freedom of speech and/or religion.
