People love to say liberals are uneven without thinking about the negativity of the right, which is far worse. Thoughts?
I feel that saying that “the other side is horrible” doesn’t absolve people who identify as liberal of criticisms against them and I feel that liberals being uneven in their support for various issues is a valid critique.
That said, I like to keep in mind that many people have “pet issues” that they are passionate about and just because you focus a lot on those pet issues doesn’t mean that you don’t care about other issues going on.
For example: Religion in politics and the spread of accurate information are pet issues of mine. I talk about these things a lot, but that doesn’t automatically mean that I don’t care about other issues, it’s difficult to focus on everything at once and sometimes certain issues may get more of my time than others.
One thing I find that helps is to follow a variety of blogs that focus on different issues that are important within the liberal/civil rights circle in order to keep my view from getting too narrow.
