His name is Paul Broun - a Republican U.S. representative, member of the United States House Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
But more importantly, he is a creationist. Broun does not believe in evolution and embryology (yes, you read that right - he does not believe in embryology).
This came out of his mouth:
“All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the Big Bang Theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of Hell… And it’s lies to try to keep me and all the folks who were taught that from understanding that they need a savior.”
Need I say more?
Fortunately, you can try to remove him from the committee. A petition has been started on change.org to request Broun’s removal from what should be a committee to innovate science, scientific research and development, and space exploration.

And now this guy’s spokespeople are saying that the comment was made “off the record” - as if that makes some kind of difference.
